BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal Get Huge Injury Boost as Declan Rice Travels with Squad for Bournemouth Clash

Arsenal have been handed a significant injury boost ahead of their Premier League trip to Bournemouth, with influential midfielder Declan Rice joining the travelling squad after missing the Gunners’ recent 4-1 triumph over Aston Villa due to a knee issue. This development comes as manager Mikel Arteta continues to manage a squad hit by injuries but looks to maintain Arsenal’s momentum at the top of the league.

Rice, Arsenal’s key defensive midfielder and a linchpin in their title-challenging season, was absent from the midweek win at the Emirates after suffering swelling in his knee from a heavy challenge in the previous match against Brighton. The 26-year-old had started 35 of Arsenal’s last 37 Premier League games before being forced out, underlining his importance and the concern when he was sidelined.

However, in a positive sign for the club, Rice has now travelled with the squad to the south coast and will be assessed ahead of the clash against Bournemouth. Whether he is ultimately fit enough to play will be decided after the final training session, but his inclusion in the travelling group suggests that Arteta and the medical team are hopeful of having their midfield general available.

This comes amid a broader injury situation at Arsenal that has tested the squad’s depth. Defender Riccardo Calafiori and centre-back Cristhian Mosquera have been confirmed unavailable for the Bournemouth game due to their respective injuries, and midfielder Max Dowman remains out with an ankle issue expected to keep him sidelined until February.
Despite these absences, Arsenal have enjoyed a strong start to 2026. The Gunners sit comfortably at the top of the Premier League table — currently four points clear of defending champions Manchester City — after extending their excellent form with a commanding victory over Villa. The potential return of Rice, even if only from the bench, would provide a major boost to Arteta’s side as they look to stretch that lead further.
Arteta has been managing Rice’s recovery with caution, emphasising the need for the knee swelling to subside before risking his star midfielder in competitive action. The manager’s approach reflects Arsenal’s broader priority of keeping key players fit across a challenging fixture schedule while maintaining their title push.

For Bournemouth, who are currently struggling near the lower end of the Premier League, hosting Arsenal presents an opportunity to halt their winless league run — but facing a potentially stronger Gunners lineup with Rice involved complicates their task.

Injury news will continue to be a key talking point for Arsenal fans ahead of this fixture, but Rice’s inclusion in the travelling party represents a major piece of encouraging news for the north London club as they pursue both domestic glory and sustained success after their mid-season resurgence.
