Reece James Admits Chelsea Errors Cost Them in Villa Defeat
Chelsea captain Reece James has held his hands up after the Blues were punished for costly mistakes in their Premier League clash against Aston Villa.
Speaking after the match, James stressed that defensive lapses proved decisive, admitting that “one or two errors” directly led to Villa’s goals, including Ollie Watkins’ opener. The right-back pointed out that a mistake resulted in the corner from which Villa struck, while another error gifted Watkins his first goal of the game.
“We need to keep the ball out of the net. It’s as simple as that,” James said, taking responsibility alongside his teammates. “Two errors from us and we got punished.”
The Chelsea skipper also highlighted the unforgiving nature of the Premier League, describing it as “the toughest league in the world,” where even small mistakes can change the outcome of a match.
