Galatasaray Plot Fresh Summer Move for Inter Milan Star Hakan Calhanoglu
Galatasaray are reportedly preparing to reignite their pursuit of Inter Milan and Turkey midfield megastar Hakan Calhanoglu ahead of the summer transfer window, as they look to further strengthen their squad for domestic and European ambitions.
According to Turkiye Gazetesi, via FCInterNews, the Super Lig champions are ready to return with a renewed offer for the 31-year-old playmaker, having failed to land him last summer. Galatasaray previously explored the possibility of bringing Calhanoglu back to Istanbul, but ultimately walked away after Inter Milan set an asking price of around €35 million, a figure the Turkish giants considered excessive at the time.
Despite that setback, interest in Calhanoglu has never faded at Rams Park. Under head coach Okan Buruk, Galatasaray continue to view the former AC Milan midfielder as a “dream signing” — a player capable of elevating the team’s quality, leadership, and European competitiveness. Even the high-profile arrival of Ilkay Gundogan has not dampened their determination, with club officials reportedly convinced that Calhanoglu would still be a transformative addition.
While Fenerbahce have cooled their interest following the signing of Edson Alvarez, Galatasaray remain firmly in the race. Importantly, Inter Milan may now be more open to negotiations. Although Calhanoglu has re-established himself as a key figure under coach Cristian Chivu, his contract runs until 2027, meaning the Nerazzurri could soon face pressure to cash in to avoid losing value on a long-serving stalwart.
With the summer approaching, all eyes will be on whether Galatasaray can finally engineer a deal to bring Turkey’s midfield icon home.
