Bayern and Man City Circle Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong as Defensive Interest Grows
Bayern Munich and Manchester City are both monitoring the situation of Chelsea center-back Josh Acheampong, according to GiveMeSport journalist Ben Jacobs. The highly rated 19-year-old has attracted attention from two of Europe’s biggest clubs, despite Chelsea having no intention of letting him leave.
Acheampong, who has been at Stamford Bridge for a decade, remains fully committed to Chelsea and is not pushing for a move. However, he is aware of the growing interest surrounding his future as top clubs keep a close eye on his development and playing time. At present, neither Bayern nor City has made formal contact with Chelsea, and a move during the winter transfer window is considered unlikely.
Chelsea’s firm stance, combined with Acheampong’s loyalty, means any potential transfer would more realistically be explored next year, should circumstances change. Both Bayern and City are understood to be carefully tracking his involvement at club level in case an opportunity emerges.
Bayern previously explored a deal for Acheampong late in the summer transfer window but were unable to reach an agreement. With their center-back options currently in transition, the Bundesliga giants could revive their interest. However, competition from Manchester City would significantly complicate any future pursuit.
