ATHENS, GA — As the Georgia Bulldogs reload for yet another run at college football supremacy, one question dominates conversations in Athens: who’s the offensive catalyst that could define the fate of this 2025 squad?
Look no further than junior quarterback Gunnar Stockton.
After patiently biding his time behind former UGA star Carson Beck, Stockton now steps into the spotlight as the unquestioned leader of the offense—and perhaps the biggest swing factor in the Bulldogs’ national title hopes. Coaches have raved about his arm strength, mobility, and relentless film study, but 2025 will be his trial by fire in the unforgiving crucible of SEC football.
“He’s not just stepping into a role,” said head coach Kirby Smart during spring media availability. “He’s stepping into a legacy.”
But Stockton’s potential wouldn’t mean much without the weaponry surrounding him. That’s where things get dangerous for opposing defenses. Georgia’s most dynamic offensive weapon—and arguably its most important overall asset—is sophomore wide receiver KJ Bolden.
A former five-star recruit and flip from Florida State, Bolden has transitioned from safety to wide receiver full-time—and he’s already generating serious NFL buzz. His freakish speed, 6’1” frame, and electric playmaking ability have drawn comparisons to Deebo Samuel and Odell Beckham Jr.
In the Bulldogs’ spring game, Bolden torched the secondary for 138 yards and two touchdowns—both on broken plays where Stockton trusted him to freelance. Their chemistry is undeniable. But that connection must blossom into consistent excellence.
“If Bolden stays healthy and Stockton matures fast, this team might be unguardable,” said ESPN analyst Greg McElroy. “If not? Georgia could actually look mortal for once.”
The stakes are clear. Gunnar Stockton is the driver. KJ Bolden is the engine. Without both firing on all cylinders, Georgia’s playoff train might never leave the station.
