The snap was high—too high. The punter jumped, missed the catch, and the ball tumbled freely across the field. The crowd gasped. The punter scrambled back, grabbing the ball off the turf and attempting a desperate kick under pressure. But the ball bounced awkwardly. That’s when Michigan State’s freshman defensive end, Keon Russell, lunged forward.

In remarks at the ribbon-cutting, Tom Izzo said the center “reflects the Spartans’ commitment to community health every bit as much as our commitment to championships.” Half of the Izzo gift is earmarked for imaging-based clinical research, meaning Spartan student-athletes may someday undergo concussion MRI protocols developed in the very building that bears their coach’s name.

Virginia Tech’s Quentin Reddish Pledges Entire 2025 Season Earnings to Charity

In an era where college athletes are finally cashing in on their name, image, and likeness (NIL), one player is flipping the script entirely. Virginia Tech defensive back Quentin Reddish has announced that he will donate all of his earnings from the upcoming 2025 football season—salary, NIL sponsorships, and other football-related income—to charitable causes. His bold decision is making waves across the college football world, not just for its generosity, but for the deeper message it sends.

“The money I earn this season isn’t just about me; it’s about making a positive impact on the community,” Reddish said in a statement shared via social media on Tuesday. “I’ve been blessed with a platform, and I want to use it to lift others up.”

Reddish, a rising star in the Hokies’ secondary, has quickly gained national attention for both his play on the field and his character off of it. While many college athletes are rightfully leveraging NIL opportunities for personal gain, Reddish’s choice sets him apart. His initiative—reportedly called the “Play For Purpose Project”—will distribute funds to youth development programs, mental health initiatives, food security organizations, and education-focused nonprofits across Virginia and beyond.

Sources close to Reddish say he has already been in talks with several charities, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Feeding Southwest Virginia, and smaller grassroots organizations within the Blacksburg area. In addition to financial contributions, Reddish plans to be personally involved in service projects during his limited free time between practices and games.

Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry praised Reddish’s decision. “Quentin represents everything we want our program to stand for—heart, humility, and leadership. He’s not just playing for wins; he’s playing for a cause bigger than himself.”

As the 2025 season approaches, fans and fellow athletes alike will be watching Reddish—not just for interceptions and tackles, but for inspiration.
