In the AP Top 25, Miami now sits at No. 11 with 945 points, just behind No. 10 Tennessee, who dropped four spots after their defeat. BYU’s tumble down the rankings allowed the Hurricanes to make their move, as they leapfrogged the Cougars, who fell seven spots. In the Coaches Poll, Miami holds steady at No. 11 with 847 points, while Tennessee remains one spot ahead at No. 10 with 823 points.
Despite a tough loss to Georgia Tech the previous week, Miami has bounced back, staying in the mix for a potential ACC Championship appearance. Their current No. 9 ranking in the College Football Playoff standings reflects their strong season, even without a signature win over a ranked team yet.
The Hurricanes are one of three ACC teams in the Week 13 polls, joining No. 13 SMU and No. 17 Clemson in the rankings. Clemson’s impressive comeback win over Pittsburgh has them locked into a strong position, while SMU continues to dominate in their first season in the ACC, sitting at 9-1 and undefeated in conference play.
With Miami set to face Wake Forest at home and Syracuse on the road, the Canes still have a clear path to the ACC Championship game, where they could have a shot at playing against a ranked opponent. Syracuse, currently sitting just outside the polls at No. 29, will be a tough challenge, but Miami’s resurgence is building momentum as they aim for a strong finish to the regular season.
