Chelsea Handed Major Christmas Boost Ahead of Aston Villa Showdown as Delap and Estevao Return
Chelsea have received a timely double fitness boost ahead of their blockbuster Premier League clash with Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening. Blues head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed on Christmas Eve that both Liam Delap and Estevao are fully fit and available for selection, strengthening Chelsea’s options for a crucial top-four battle.
“Estevao is back, and he is available for Saturday… and also Liam Delap,” Maresca said. “They are both back.” The return of the attacking duo comes as welcome news for Chelsea, who sit fourth in the Premier League and are looking to close the gap on their high-flying opponents.
The London side’s injury list remains otherwise unchanged. Dario Essugo, Levi Colwill and Romeo Lavia continue to miss out through injury, limiting Maresca’s depth in midfield and defence.
Aston Villa arrive in red-hot form, winning their last five league matches to climb into third place. Unai Emery is also set to receive a boost, with Harvey Elliott expected to return after missing out due to illness. However, Villa remain without Pau Torres, Ross Barkley and Tyrone Mings, all of whom are still sidelined with long-term injuries.
With kickoff scheduled for 5:30pm on December 27, the festive encounter promises high stakes, attacking quality and major implications at the top end of the Premier League table.
