Tolu Arokodare is itching for his chance to shine. The Nigerian striker says he’s “hungry” to show Wolves supporters what he can do when Chelsea visit Molineux in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
After netting in the previous round against Everton, Arokodare is hopeful that head coach Vitor Pereira will hand him a starting opportunity in this high-stakes tie. The 24-year-old has been limited to late cameos in Wolves’ last four Premier League games, but he’s eager to use the cup as a spark for both himself and the team.
On Facing Chelsea in the Cup
“Obviously, it’s not going to be an easy game,” Arokodare admitted. “Chelsea are a strong side, and we’re at a challenging stage of the tournament. But we’ve done well so far in the Carabao Cup, and we want to keep that going.
“It’s nice to take our minds off the Premier League a bit and focus on something different, but it’s still football — and our goal is the same: to win. We’re at home, our fans have been incredible all season, and hopefully we can repay them with another victory.”
On Building Momentum
Despite Wolves’ recent league struggles, Arokodare believes the team’s fight has never been in question.
“We’ve been unlucky in the last minutes of some league games,” he said. “But in the Carabao Cup, we’ve found a way to keep winning and moving forward. Everyone can see we’re fighting until the end — it’s just the fine margins that haven’t gone our way.
“I know it’s frustrating for the fans, and it’s hard for us too because it affects our confidence going into the next game. But we’re staying united. We have to keep supporting each other, keep fighting, and never give up. The season is long, and the league is still very open.”
