AC Milan have submitted an official bid to sign Liverpool centre-back Joe Gomez, who will be allowed to leave if Marc Guehi joins, according to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano.
The Reds are in the market for a new centre-back in the summer transfer window, with speculation surrounding the future of Ibrahima Konate. The French defender is out of contract next summer, so the Merseyside club will at least have to plan in case he departs between now and then.
Konate regularly partners Virgil van Dijk at the back, and Arne Slot only really has Gomez as a backup option after they allowed Jarrel Quansah to join Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the transfer window. Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Guehi, with Romano confirming that they’ve submitted an offer to secure his signature over the last few days.
Reporting on X, Romano has confirmed that AC Milan have submitted an official bid to sign Liverpool defender Gomez, with negotiations underway for a permanent deal. Gomez will be allowed to depart if Crystal Palace centre-back Guehi joins the club.

Gomez, described as ‘outstanding’ by team-mate Virgil van Dijk, has struggled to become a regular at Anfield despite being at the club for a lengthy period now. The England international joined Liverpool back in 2015, meaning he’s now spent 10 years at the club, but he’s never been a guaranteed starter.
It would be no surprise if Gomez wanted to head through the exit door before Monday’s 7pm deadline, but it’s understandable that Liverpool want to get another centre-back in before sanctioning his exit. Gomez is currently the third-choice defender for the Reds, but there’s no doubt Guehi would be a higher-quality option who is more likely to push Konate and Van Dijk for a starting role.
It looks set to be a busy last couple of days int he summer transfer window, and there could be some dominos to fall that lead to further deals around the Premier League.
