Four-star running back DeZephen Walker, one of the most dynamic offensive prospects in the Class of 2026, has officially committed to Florida State University, rejecting strong offers from powerhouse programs including Texas Tech, Missouri, and the Auburn Tigers.
The 6-foot, 195-pound speedster out of DeSoto High School in Texas becomes the first running back commit for FSU in the 2026 class, giving head coach Mike Norvell and running backs coach David Johnson a massive early win in what’s shaping up to be another elite Seminole recruiting cycle.
Walker, known for his blazing 4.38 40-yard dash time, shiftiness in open space, and high football IQ, made the announcement during a live stream surrounded by teammates and family. “Florida State felt like home,” Walker said during the broadcast. “The coaching staff believed in me from the start, and I want to be a part of bringing a national championship back to Tallahassee.”
Walker’s junior season was a breakout year: he rushed for over 1,800 yards and 26 touchdowns, while adding another 450 receiving yards and 5 receiving TDs. He’s currently ranked the No. 7 RB in the nation and a Top 100 player overall, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
His commitment gives FSU a powerful new offensive weapon and continues Norvell’s emphasis on speed, versatility, and character in building a sustainable championship program.
