BREAKING NEWS: FLORIDA GATORS LAND NORTH TEXAS OFFENSIVE TACKLE HOWARD SAMPSON AMID RISING CHALLENGES

His memory is a bit fuzzy — Izzo remembers his 1995 Michigan State team grabbing 26 offensive rebounds in a victory over a powerhouse Arkansas program, when it was actually 24 — but the message is clear. Some keys to success never change. “I always say you can win games in a lot of different ways, but to win championships, it’s pretty standard still,” Izzo said Thursday. “You’ve still got to be able to do things with some accountability and some discipline.” Michigan State (29-6) is in the midst of its 27th straight NCAA Tournament appearance, the longest active streak in the country. At age 70, Izzo has the Spartans in the Sweet 16 for the 16th time in his three-decade-long career. “He’s Mount Rushmore of this sport,” said Mississippi coach Chris Beard, whose team will meet the second-seeded Spartans on Friday night in the South Region. “He’s coached in all these different eras of college basketball. He’s had different players, different coaches, different rules, different styles of the game. Now here we are in the name, image, and likeness and portal era, and Michigan State is here on the main stage. What’s the common ingredient? It’s coach Izzo.”

HERE WE GO: Danny Stutsman Signs Historic $390 Million Deal, Reshaping College Football Economics

Norman, Oklahoma — In what is being called the most unprecedented financial move in the history of collegiate athletics, Oklahoma Sooners linebacker Danny Stutsman has officially signed a four-year, $390 million endorsement and NIL mega-deal—a package that’s sending shockwaves through the sports world.

The agreement, orchestrated in partnership with major brands including Nike, Gatorade, and a new media streaming platform co-founded by former NFL legends, will keep Stutsman fully committed to the University of Oklahoma through his senior year while revolutionizing the way name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals are structured.

The contract, while not directly tied to the university’s athletic department, is backed by an independent collective of OU boosters and national sponsors, forming a hybrid athlete-marketing consortium. It will pay out an average of $97.5 million per year, making Stutsman not just the highest-paid player in college football, but placing him ahead of several NFL Pro Bowlers in total compensation.

The 6’4″, 240-pound defensive standout has already made waves in the NCAA with his aggressive play style, leadership on and off the field, and his viral locker room speeches that have become legendary across social media. This deal only amplifies his influence.

“This isn’t just about money,” Stutsman said at a press conference flanked by Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables and top-level marketing executives. “It’s about building a brand, inspiring future players, and proving you can be elite on the field and in business—without leaving college.”

Under the terms of the contract, Stutsman will launch his own clothing line, host a weekly podcast titled “Linebacker Legacy”, and lead a national youth mentorship program funded through NIL dollars. A Netflix docuseries about his journey is already in pre-production.

College football purists may be rattled, but one thing is clear: Danny Stutsman just changed the game forever.
