BREAKING NEWS: FLORIDA GATORS LAND NORTH TEXAS OFFENSIVE TACKLE HOWARD SAMPSON AMID RISING CHALLENGES

July 9, 2025

His memory is a bit fuzzy — Izzo remembers his 1995 Michigan State team grabbing 26 offensive rebounds in a victory over a powerhouse Arkansas program, when it was actually 24 — but the message is clear. Some keys to success never change. “I always say you can win games in a lot of different ways, but to win championships, it’s pretty standard still,” Izzo said Thursday. “You’ve still got to be able to do things with some accountability and some discipline.” Michigan State (29-6) is in the midst of its 27th straight NCAA Tournament appearance, the longest active streak in the country. At age 70, Izzo has the Spartans in the Sweet 16 for the 16th time in his three-decade-long career. “He’s Mount Rushmore of this sport,” said Mississippi coach Chris Beard, whose team will meet the second-seeded Spartans on Friday night in the South Region. “He’s coached in all these different eras of college basketball. He’s had different players, different coaches, different rules, different styles of the game. Now here we are in the name, image, and likeness and portal era, and Michigan State is here on the main stage. What’s the common ingredient? It’s coach Izzo.”

From Baton Rouge to Aggieland: Le’Veon Moss’ Powerful Journey of Family, Faith, and a Second Chance at Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, TX — For Le’Veon Moss, the path from Louisiana to Texas A&M hasn’t been straight or smooth — but it’s been filled with purpose. The junior running back, once a highly-touted recruit out of Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, is now emerging as a symbol of perseverance, redemption, and the transformative power of name, image, and likeness (NIL) support.

After flashing early potential during his freshman and sophomore years, Moss suffered a devastating ankle injury in Week 3 of the 2024 season. At the time, he had just begun to break into the starting rotation, averaging over 6.2 yards per carry. The injury left him sidelined for months, physically healing while battling mental hurdles behind the scenes.

But Moss never lost faith.

“The toughest part wasn’t the pain,” he shared in an emotional interview. “It was watching my brothers go to war every Saturday while I sat in a boot, wondering if I’d ever be the same.”

What changed his trajectory? A unique combination of family, donor-backed NIL support, and an Aggie fan base that refused to give up on him.

Thanks to the 12th Man Foundation’s NIL Collective, Moss was able to remain financially secure during rehab, allowing him to focus on recovery rather than survival. “I didn’t have to worry about rushing back for the wrong reasons. I could heal the right way. That saved my career,” Moss said.

The support extended far beyond the financial. His coaches, teammates, and trainers became his second family. And the bond he formed with younger players like Rueben Owens and Jaylon Henderson turned his rehab period into a leadership role — a role he’s embraced fully.

Now, entering the 2025 season at full strength, Moss is hungrier than ever. “This is personal now,” he says. “I owe it to my momma, my city, and the 12th Man. I’m not just playing football — I’m playing for everything we’ve built here in Aggieland.”

His message to Aggie Nation? “I’m back. And I’m just getting started.”
