157 Texas A&M Cadets Commissioned Into U.S. Armed Forces in Stirring Commencement Ceremony
College Station, TX – June 19, 2025
In a powerful and patriotic display of honor, duty, and tradition, 157 senior cadets from Texas A&M University officially took the Oath of Office and were commissioned into the United States Armed Forces during this afternoon’s commencement ceremony held at the iconic Kyle Field.
The commissioning ceremony, which has become a treasured tradition for the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, was filled with emotion and pride as friends, family members, and fellow Aggies gathered to witness these young leaders take their solemn pledge to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.
General (Ret.) David H. Berger, former Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps and a distinguished guest speaker, addressed the cadets with a stirring keynote. “You are not only stepping into uniforms—you are stepping into history. You carry the values of this university, and now you bear the responsibility of protecting a nation.”
Of the 157 cadets commissioned, 82 will join the U.S. Army, 39 will serve in the U.S. Air Force, 21 will enter the U.S. Navy, and 15 were commissioned into the U.S. Marine Corps. Many of these cadets will soon head to specialized training across the country—from flight school in Pensacola to cyber operations training at Fort Meade.
For Cadet Olivia Martinez, newly commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force, the moment was deeply personal. “My grandfather served in Vietnam, and I always dreamed of following in his footsteps. Today, I not only fulfilled that dream—I joined a family that spans generations.”
Texas A&M’s Corps of Cadets, known as the “Keepers of the Spirit,” remains the largest uniformed student body outside of the service academies and has produced thousands of military officers over the decades.
As the cadets tossed their caps skyward to the thunderous applause of the crowd, the sound of “The Spirit of Aggieland” played proudly in the background—a reminder that these young officers may now serve across the globe, but they will forever remain part of the Aggie family.
