  • Held at the 2025 ESPN Global Cheerleading Invitational in Orlando, Florida, this performance by the Spartan cheerleaders wasn’t just a victory—it was a revolution in motion. Competing against powerhouse squads from nations including Japan, Canada, South Korea, Brazil, and the United Kingdom, the Spartans delivered a dazzling, acrobatic display that didn’t just score a perfect 100—it rewrote the limits of what cheerleading is capable of.
  • For Kaleb Glenn: the journey has shifted, but a medical redshirt will protect his eligibility while he rehabs toward a robust return. For MSU: deficit becomes opportunity—fresh faces get chances, veterans step up, and the path forward remains competitive. For Izzo: once again proving why he’s one of college basketball’s elite coaches—resilience in the face of adversity, and unwavering team-first mentality.

Shockwaves in Sports Media: Ex-Tennessee Football Star and On3 Insider Accused in Stunning Financial Scam Allegations

The college football community was rocked this week by stunning allegations involving a former University of Tennessee football player who later served as a staffer for the prominent sports media outlet, On3. Grant Frerking, once seen as a rising figure in both athletics and media, is now facing serious accusations of financial misconduct that could have far-reaching implications across the collegiate sports landscape.

According to initial reports and corroborating statements, Frerking allegedly used his dual roles in the sports and business worlds to mislead individuals and entities into what some are calling “coordinated financial deception.” These developments have raised questions about the safeguards in place within collegiate athletics and sports media companies, as well as the need for transparency and oversight.

Who Is Grant Frerking?

Frerking was known not only for his time as a wide receiver at Tennessee but also for founding a business while still a student-athlete—a venture that focused on connecting athletes with brands for endorsement deals in the wake of the NCAA’s new Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rules. His entrepreneurial spirit initially earned him praise and eventually landed him a staff position at On3, a rising star in the college football recruiting and analysis space.

But now, that promising narrative is in tatters. On3 CEO Shannon Terry has publicly disavowed Frerking, stating unequivocally that the company had “no knowledge” of his outside activities. “He lied to us,” Terry said, indicating that Frerking’s alleged actions were done without the consent or knowledge of the On3 leadership.

The Accusations and Fallout

Multiple sources allege that Frerking misrepresented his affiliations and financial capabilities in order to gain access to investment funds or deals under false pretenses. Some victims claim to have been promised returns or exposure that never materialized, leading to substantial financial losses.

The situation has escalated rapidly as both legal and institutional bodies begin to investigate the scope of the accusations. While no formal charges have yet been filed, the allegations have been enough to ignite a media firestorm and trigger internal reviews at both On3 and possibly even the University of Tennessee’s athletic department.

A Wake-Up Call for College Athletics?

The story highlights a larger concern across college sports: the blending of personal enterprise with institutional affiliation in the NIL era. As athletes increasingly become entrepreneurs and influencers, the line between legitimate business ventures and potential fraud can blur quickly.

“This is a cautionary tale,” said a legal analyst familiar with sports law. “Without clear boundaries, mentorship, and accountability, young athletes—some of whom are thrust into the spotlight before they’re ready—can make poor decisions or worse, exploit the system entirely.”

What’s Next?

While Frerking has yet to release a public statement in response to the allegations, industry insiders expect legal proceedings or formal complaints to follow in short order. Meanwhile, On3 is moving quickly to distance itself from the controversy, pledging greater transparency and updated protocols to ensure such incidents are never repeated.

As the investigation unfolds, one thing is clear: This scandal is far from over, and its ripple effects may permanently alter how colleges, media, and athletes do business moving forward.

Stay tuned for updates as we follow this developing story and its impact on the future of collegiate sports and NIL partnerships.
