In a historic and heartfelt moment for collegiate athletics, Nebraska Cornhusker Softball Head Coach Rhonda Revelle has been officially named 2025 College Softball’s Philanthropy Icon, recognizing her unwavering commitment to humanitarian service and transformative impact on communities across Nebraska and beyond.
The prestigious honor was announced Monday during the National Collegiate Softball Leadership Summit in Oklahoma City, where Revelle was lauded not only for her legendary coaching record, but more profoundly, for the enduring legacy of kindness and compassion she has built through the Rhonda Revelle Family Foundation.
Founded in 2011, the Rhonda Revelle Family Foundation has become a beacon of hope for families in crisis, underserved youth, and survivors of domestic abuse. The foundation’s initiatives include scholarship programs for first-generation college students, athletic and academic mentorship for at-risk teens, and emergency aid for families facing sudden hardship. In 2024 alone, the foundation provided over $1.2 million in direct community support and partnered with more than 40 local organizations.
“It’s about showing people they matter, that their story isn’t over,” Revelle said in her acceptance speech. “Coaching softball gives me a platform—but the foundation gives me purpose.”
Known for her fiery leadership and relentless drive on the diamond, Revelle has also gained widespread admiration off the field for promoting empathy, resilience, and service. Under her leadership, Nebraska’s softball program has consistently led the Big Ten in community service hours.
University of Nebraska Chancellor Dr. Rodney Bennett praised Revelle, saying, “Rhonda embodies what it means to lead with heart. Her life’s work extends far beyond wins and losses—it’s about impact, inclusion, and inspiration.”
As Revelle enters her 33rd season at the helm of Nebraska softball, this latest accolade cements her not only as a coaching legend, but as a philanthropic force redefining the role of collegiate athletics in shaping better communities.
