Luke Goode Withdraws from NBA Draft, Eyes Return to Indiana Hoosiers for 2025–26 Season
In a significant development for Indiana basketball, senior forward Luke Goode has announced his decision to withdraw from the 2025 NBA Draft, expressing his intent to return to the Hoosiers for the 2025–26 season—pending NCAA approval of a medical hardship waiver.
Goode’s potential return hinges on the NCAA granting a waiver due to a foot injury that limited him to just 10 games during his sophomore year at Illinois. Although he played slightly more than 30% of the season’s games and all appearances occurred in the latter half, Goode remains hopeful. He stated, “I think a guy that only played 10 games and came back and helped his team instead of taking a redshirt—I elected to come back and help my team. I was selfless. Hopefully, they realize that” .
The Fort Wayne native transferred to Indiana in April 2024, bringing with him a reputation as a reliable three-point shooter and a strong work ethic. In the 2024–25 season, Goode averaged 9.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, shooting 32.8% from beyond the arc . His leadership and hustle were evident, often diving for loose balls and providing a spark off the bench .
Goode’s deep ties to Indiana University—his father played football at IU, his mother is an alumna, and his brother is a current student—make his desire to return even more poignant. “I love this place,” Goode said. “I grew up dreaming of playing for this program. I would love nothing more than to represent this school again” .
The Hoosiers are undergoing a transition with the hiring of new head coach Darian DeVries, following Mike Woodson’s departure after the 2024–25 season . Goode’s return would provide veteran leadership and continuity as the team adapts to new coaching strategies.
