Patty Gasso Named SEC Coach of the Year After Leading Oklahoma to Success in Debut SEC Season
Patty Gasso, head coach of the University of Oklahoma softball team, has been honored as the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Coach of the Year following a remarkable debut season in the SEC. In her 31st year at the helm, Gasso led the Sooners to a 45–7 overall record and a 17–7 conference record, securing the SEC regular-season title and co-championship in the SEC Tournament .
Despite graduating 10 seniors, including several multi-time national champions, Gasso’s leadership and strategic adjustments were evident. She embraced a new team dynamic, blending experienced players with fresh talent from the transfer portal and a strong freshman class. Notable additions like Abigale Dayton and Ailana Agbayani brought speed and defensive prowess, complementing returning stars such as Ella Parker, Kasidi Pickering, and Cydney Sanders

Her appointment as the head coach for the USA Softball Women’s National Team for the 2025–2028 quadrennial cycle, including the LA28 Olympic Games, further underscores her influence and dedication to the sport
