Mark Ingram II Returns to Alabama as Heisman Winner Joins Coaching Staff
In a monumental move for Alabama football, Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram II has rejoined the Crimson Tide, this time as a member of the coaching staff. Ingram, who made history in 2009 as Alabama’s first Heisman recipient, is set to mentor the next generation of running backs and help revitalize the program’s championship pedigree.
Ingram’s return to Tuscaloosa is a full-circle moment. He played under Coach Nick Saban from 2008 to 2010, leading the team to its first SEC title and national championship since 1992. His 2009 season was nothing short of spectacular, rushing for 1,658 yards and 17 touchdowns, earning him the prestigious Heisman Trophy. He also received MVP honors in the BCS title game against Texas.
After a successful 12-season NFL career, including stints with the New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, and Houston Texans, Ingram transitioned into broadcasting. He joined FOX Sports as a co-host for “Big Noon Kickoff,” providing analysis and commentary on college football.
Now, Ingram is returning to his roots, bringing his Hall-of-Fame work ethic and leadership back to Alabama. He aims to forge a new era of running back excellence, mentor young stars, and spearhead community outreach and player development programs.
