After more than a decade of passion, perseverance, and powerful plays, Saints quarterback Derek Carr has officially announced his retirement from the NFL. The 33-year-old veteran walks away from the game after 11 memorable seasons that left an indelible mark on teammates, fans, and the league as a whole.

Carr began his NFL journey in 2014 when he was drafted by the Oakland Raiders. Instantly, he became a beacon of hope for a struggling franchise, demonstrating poise, leadership, and an unshakable work ethic. Over nine seasons with the Raiders—spanning both Oakland and Las Vegas—Carr set multiple franchise records, including career passing yards and touchdown passes. His resilience, even during seasons of rebuilding and coaching changes, earned him deep respect across the league.

In 2023, Carr took his talents to New Orleans, where he brought stability and leadership to the Saints’ offense. Though his time with the team was brief, his presence made a significant impact, both on and off the field. Known for his humility, faith, and dedication, Carr inspired younger players and built strong locker-room camaraderie wherever he went.

Retirement is not the end of Carr’s football journey—it’s the beginning of a new chapter. In his heartfelt statement, Carr expressed gratitude to his coaches, teammates, family, and fans. “Football has given me more than I ever imagined,” he said. “Now it’s time to give back in new ways.”

Carr leaves the field with over 35,000 career passing yards and four Pro Bowl selections, but numbers only tell part of his story. His legacy is defined by leadership, heart, and perseverance through challenges. As he steps into the next phase of life, Derek Carr’s journey serves as a motivating reminder that greatness is built over time—with grit, grace, and unwavering
