Born on September 4, 1964, Jones played for the University of Miami from 1984 to 1987. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 270 pounds, he was known for his strength and agility on the defensive line. During his tenure, the Hurricanes achieved significant success, including a 10–2 season in 1985 under head coach Jimmy Johnson, culminating in a Sugar Bowl appearance.
Jones’s performance earned him recognition as a letterman for four consecutive years. In the 1988 NFL Draft, he was selected in the 10th round (269th overall) by the Seattle Seahawks. Although his professional career was brief, his impact at the collegiate level left a lasting impression.
