The Florida State women’s basketball team is on fire as they’ve earned a coveted No. 6 seed in the 2024-25 NCAA Tournament! The Seminoles celebrated on Sunday night at Township, eagerly watching the NCAA Tournament Selection Show to hear their name called.
FSU (23-8) will face off against No. 11 seed George Mason (27-5), the Atlantic 10 champions, in the first round of the Baton Rouge Regional. It’s a thrilling opportunity for the Seminoles to prove themselves, and they’re coming in with fire in their hearts.
“It feels amazing,” said junior guard Ta’Niya Latson. “We worked hard for this seed. We wanted to improve from last year, and I think we have a great chance to make a deep run.”
FSU’s previous NCAA appearance in March 2024 ended with a first-round loss to Alabama as the No. 9 seed. But with their confidence soaring from this season’s big road victories over top-25 teams like UNC, Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech, the Seminoles are ready to turn things around.
Coach Brooke Wyckoff is ready to lead her team to the next level: “We’ve played some huge games on the road and have done really well. They know what to expect and are prepared to show up with confidence.”
This marks FSU’s 12th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, the seventh-longest active streak in the nation! With the Baton Rouge Regional set to heat up, FSU is poised to make some noise. The regional champion will head to Spokane, Wash., for the next round, with the Final Four taking place in sunny Tampa.
With incredible talent, momentum, and a desire for redemption, FSU is geared up and ready to take on the challenge. The road to greatness begins now!
