The University of Oklahoma has officially extended a scholarship offer to four-star linebacker prospect Izayia Williams from Tavares High School in Leesburg, Florida. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 210 pounds, Williams is a standout in the 2026 recruiting class, recognized for his exceptional skills and on-field performance.
Williams’s recruitment journey has been notably dynamic. He initially committed to Louisville in November 2023 but decommitted two months later. Subsequently, he pledged to Syracuse in April 2024, only to reopen his recruitment in August of the same year. A month later, in September 2024, Williams committed to Florida State, yet he once again decommitted in November 2024. As of January 2025, he has narrowed his top five schools to Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Penn State.
Despite not being listed among his top five choices, Oklahoma’s coaching staff is making a concerted effort to attract Williams to their program. The Sooners’ defensive scheme and storied history of developing NFL-caliber linebackers could serve as compelling factors in their recruitment pitch.
Williams’s on-field statistics underscore his impact as a defensive powerhouse. During his junior season, he amassed 137 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, six sacks, five pass breakups, and one interception.
These impressive numbers have solidified his status as one of the premier linebackers in the 2026 class.
In addition to Oklahoma, Williams has scheduled official visits to several other prominent programs. His visit itinerary includes Georgia on May 30, Alabama on June 6, Florida on June 13, Colorado on June 17, and Florida State on June 20.
These visits will play a crucial role in his decision-making process as he evaluates each program’s offerings.
