PROVO — The roar of the BYU pep band is back, louder than ever, as the school has decided to bring the band back to the men’s basketball games for the remainder of the season! After intense meetings between university staff and band members, an agreement was reached to have the iconic “Roar of Cougars” band return, adding extra energy to every home game. This exciting announcement comes just in time for Tuesday’s showdown against No. 20 Arizona.
In addition to the band’s return for all home games, they will also be traveling with the team for postseason games, starting with the Big 12 Conference Tournament in Kansas City. Initially, the band had been sidelined due to scheduling conflicts, but with overwhelming support from over 6,000 fans who signed the petition, the university reversed its decision.
“We are so grateful for the opportunity to once again bring the spirit and energy of the ROC band to every game,” said Jadyn Christensen, a trumpeter in the band and the driving force behind the petition. “It’s an honor to represent BYU and cheer on our basketball team!”
As the Cougars continue their four-game winning streak, this news brings even more excitement to an already thrilling season. The band’s return is set to take BYU’s basketball atmosphere to a whole new level.
