This victory was just the spark they needed to reignite their season, with sophomore Solo Ball delivering a career-defining performance of 25 points and 11 rebounds in the thrilling, wire-to-wire win.
But that’s not all – Solo Ball was also named Big East Player of the Week, marking his first-ever honor! Over the week, Ball posted jaw-dropping stats, averaging 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks. This came after a gritty come-from-behind victory against DePaul, propelling UConn to a perfect 2-0 week.
Joining team captain Alex Karaban, Solo Ball is now one of only two Huskies to claim the prestigious Player of the Week title this season. UConn’s rise continues as they now sit 4th in the Big East with a strong 8-3 conference record, despite being outside the Top 25 just a week ago.
As UConn looks ahead to a massive showdown with St. John’s on Friday, the team is also gearing up to welcome back standout freshman Liam McNeeley, who has been sidelined with a high ankle sprain for the last eight games.
