Could the Micah Hudson saga with Texas A&M be coming to a surprising end? According to Texas Tech insider Chris Level, the former Aggies wide receiver—who stepped away from the program just a few weeks ago—could be eyeing a return to Lubbock, where his college journey began.
In a recent appearance on the Locked On Texas Tech Podcast, Level hinted that Hudson’s future is still very much in the air. “I wouldn’t rule out a return to Texas Tech,” Level stated. “It’s complicated, and while I can’t confirm everything, there have been reports of Hudson recently being in Lubbock. Was he packing up? Was he meeting with someone? I can’t say for sure, but don’t rule anything out just yet.”
Hudson, who committed to Texas A&M on December 15, only to step away from the program a month later, has left fans and insiders guessing about his next move. While returning to A&M isn’t entirely off the table, the idea of an 18-year-old reuniting with his former team is certainly plausible. In fact, similar stories of players reversing course have played out in recent years, like Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor, who initially transferred away from the Tide only to return months later.
Hudson, a former five-star recruit and the No. 12 overall player in the country for the 2024 class, has the potential to make a major impact on whichever team he chooses. Even if Texas A&M loses out on the highly sought-after wide receiver, they’ve already bolstered their receiver corps with newcomers like Kevin Concepcion, Mario Craver, and Jonah Wilson, along with former Texas Longhorns tight end Amari Niblack.
Still, the thought of losing a talent like Hudson will undoubtedly sting for the Aggies, no matter what direction he decides to go.
