CLEMSON — Big news for Clemson football fans! Defensive tackle DeMonte Capehart has been granted an NCAA waiver, securing his return for the 2025 season. The NCAA has approved his appeal, granting him another year of eligibility by counting his limited 2021 season as a redshirt year.
Capehart, who played just 20 snaps over five games in 2021, had his appeal approved despite exceeding the four-game redshirt limit. His appearances that year, including a special teams stint and a battle with a knee injury, didn’t leave much of a statistical impact. However, the NCAA ruled in his favor, citing his low participation percentage and allowing him to continue his journey with the Tigers.
Capehart’s story is a testament to persistence. He joined Clemson in 2020 when the NCAA granted athletes an additional year due to the pandemic. After redshirting that season and battling through the next few years, Capehart is set to use his bonus year for a sixth and final season, bringing even more depth and leadership to the Clemson defensive line.
