In a dramatic shift within the Lone Star State, former Texas tight end Amari Niblack is trading his burnt orange for maroon and white, transferring to Texas A&M, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Niblack, who spent the 2024 season with the Longhorns after transferring from Alabama, is the Aggies’ third tight end addition via the transfer portal, joining Micah Riley from Auburn and Nate Boerkircher from Nebraska.
The St. Petersburg, Florida native had a solid career at Alabama before making his way to Texas, earning a spot on the 2024 preseason watch list for the prestigious John Mackey Award. In his lone season with the Longhorns, Niblack appeared in nine games, recording five catches for 33 yards. His most notable performance came with two catches for 22 yards against Vanderbilt.
Before his time at Texas, Niblack made waves at Alabama, playing in 14 games in 2023 and notching 20 catches for 327 yards and four touchdowns. He also made a brief but impactful appearance in Alabama’s 2023 win over Texas A&M at Kyle Field.
With A&M’s tight end room already led by senior Tre Watson, who tallied 21 catches for 280 yards in 2024, and sophomore Theo Melin Öhrström returning after a breakout year, Niblack’s arrival adds depth and potential firepower to the Aggies’ offense for 2025 and beyond.
