Tennessee is in the race for one of the most sought-after wide receivers in the transfer portal! Former Florida State star Malik Benson has narrowed his choices to three elite programs: Oregon, Tennessee, and Kansas State.
Benson, a 6-foot-1 dynamo, showed flashes of brilliance during a challenging season at Florida State in 2024, racking up 311 yards and one touchdown across 25 receptions. Despite the Seminoles’ struggles, Benson’s talent is undeniable. His best performance came against Memphis, where he posted 99 yards on just five catches.
Before Florida State, Benson made a name for himself as the No. 1 JUCO prospect in 2023 and spent time at Alabama, where he snagged 13 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown. He even faced Tennessee during his time at Alabama, catching one pass for 17 yards in their showdown in Tuscaloosa.
Now, Benson is visiting Oregon and Tennessee this weekend, making his decision even more thrilling for fans. On top of that, Tennessee received great news as former five-star recruit Mike Matthews confirmed his return to Knoxville for his sophomore season, strengthening the Vols’ receiving corps.
The excitement doesn’t stop there—Tennessee is also eyeing Southern Cal’s star wide receiver Zachariah Branch, who has a strong connection with quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Big moves are happening on Rocky Top, and Tennessee is ready to make a splash!
