Deion Sanders’ offseason saw some major coaching departures at Colorado, with Phil Loadholt and Vincent Dancey leaving the Buffs’ staff, raising concern among fans, especially after Loadholt helped secure top recruit Jordan Seaton. However, USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer highlighted a major reality for CU: the offensive line, a persistent weak spot in 2023, still needs serious improvement.
Colorado’s O-line woes were evident last season, giving up a staggering 56 sacks, the second most in the nation. Despite Sanders’ efforts to revamp the line, including bringing in nine transfers and the top offensive tackle recruit, Jordan Seaton, the Buffs continued to struggle. They allowed 43 sacks, the most in the Big 12, with many of the transfers failing to make an impact due to injuries or inconsistent play. The lack of cohesion meant constant reshuffling, raising questions about Sanders’ ability to turn things around in 2025.
While Loadholt was a great recruiter, Coach Prime needs someone who can build a solid, impenetrable line that can protect quarterbacks Kaidon Salter and Julian Lewis. Colorado’s offensive line needs to bring the same intensity that legendary defensive lineman Warren Sapp once brought to the defense. Can Sanders solve this puzzle, or will O-line struggles continue to haunt the Buffs?
