Florida State is making big moves in the NCAA Transfer Portal to strengthen its defensive line, and a veteran standout is set to join the conversation. Deamontae Diggs, a seasoned defensive lineman from Coastal Carolina, announced that he will visit FSU starting January 2.
Diggs, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound powerhouse, began his collegiate journey at Youngstown State before transferring to Coastal Carolina for the 2024 season. During his time with the Chanticleers, he played in 13 games, starting seven, and made a significant impact with 34 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, and two pass deflections. His best performance came against Marshall, where he tallied seven tackles and one tackle for loss.
With a total of 441 snaps and 18 pressures, Diggs proved to be a consistent force on the defensive line, earning a 62.5 overall grade from PFF. Before transferring, he made a strong mark at Youngstown State, where he posted 26 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and five sacks in the 2022-23 seasons.
Standing tall at 6-foot-5, Diggs still has one more year of eligibility to play at his next destination, and Florida State is among the top contenders, with offers from Kansas, Purdue, UNLV, and James Madison also on the table.
FSU’s defensive line is shaping up for 2025, with redshirt seniors Jaden Jones and Aaron Hester set to return, plus exciting signees like four-star LaJesse Harrold and Tylon Lee. With recent additions like former Nebraska defensive end James Williams and Western Kentucky’s Deante McCray, Diggs’ visit could be the perfect next step to further bolster an already impressive defensive front.
