Get ready for another electrifying season of Ohio State football! Tight end Will Kacmarek is coming back for his fifth year of eligibility in 2025, confirmed the talented player to Eleven Warriors on Monday. Though he’s listed as a senior on the Buckeyes’ roster, Kacmarek still has another year of play thanks to his redshirt freshman season in 2021.
Kacmarek has big plans for next year, aiming to take on a more prominent role in the passing game after a quieter 2024, where he logged just six catches for 65 yards. “I want to get more involved in the passing offense,” he shared. “I had a little setback this season that slowed my development, but I’m ready to step up and lead next year.”
A transfer from Ohio University, Kacmarek has made his presence known as one of the Buckeyes’ top blocking tight ends, playing 187 snaps this season. Although his receiving stats didn’t skyrocket, he delivered his longest catch – a 32-yard grab – in a game against Oregon, even though that same play saw him suffer an upper-body injury that kept him out for four games.
But the future looks bright for Kacmarek, who’s thrilled to be part of Ohio State’s Rose Bowl showdown. “It’s a dream come true,” he said. “The other bowl games I’ve been to were awesome, but the Rose Bowl? That’s next-level.”
Looking ahead to next season, Kacmarek is pumped to team up with Purdue transfer Max Klare, who brings impressive stats from the Boilermakers. “It’s going to be amazing,” Kacmarek said. “We’re going to need all the tight ends we can get – it’s a physical position, and Max sounds like a great guy.”
With the departure of this season’s starting tight end, Gee Scott Jr., and fellow senior Patrick Gurd, Kacmarek will be joined in 2025 by returning tight ends Jelani Thurman, Bennett Christian, and Max LeBlanc, plus two promising freshmen in Nate Roberts and Brody Lennon.
The stage is set for a thrilling 2025 season – and Kacmarek is ready to make his mark!
