After facing a string of tough setbacks, including the drama surrounding the transfer portal and uncertainty with key players like Mike Matthews, Tennessee football head coach Josh Heupel finally has some good news to celebrate!
On Monday, standout tight end Miles Kitselman made a major announcement—he’s returning to Knoxville for the 2025 season! Originally, it seemed like 2024 would be Kitselman’s farewell tour, but thanks to new JUCO rules, No. 87 will be back for one more season, a major win for the Vols.
This comes as a relief, especially after tight ends Holden Staes and Charlie Browder announced they would be entering the portal. Kitselman’s return is critical as he was a fan favorite this past season, showing incredible heart and grit. He finished the 2023 campaign with 22 receptions, 301 yards, four touchdowns, and even a rushing touchdown.
With five wide receivers entering the portal, including Matthews’ uncertain future, securing Kitselman’s return is a massive victory for Tennessee. Now, Heupel and the coaching staff have to set their sights on keeping Matthews in the fold. Vols fans are hoping for more good news on that front!
