Florida State’s offensive line just got stronger with the addition of graduate transfer Luke Petitbon, as announced by head coach Mike Norvell. The highly experienced lineman from Wake Forest brings toughness, leadership, and exceptional skill to the Nole Family. Norvell couldn’t be more thrilled, saying, “I’m fired up to add Luke to our team. He’s proven himself at a high level, earning All-ACC honors this past season. His grit and tough style of play will be a tremendous asset, both on and off the field.”
Petitbon, a standout center who played 38 games with 22 starts over five seasons, joins FSU after a stellar career at Wake Forest. In 2024, he earned All-ACC honorable mention and was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week following a dominant performance against Stanford. Known for his resilience, he allowed just one sack in 2024—tying for the fewest among ACC centers. Petitbon’s exceptional play earned him a spot on the 2024 Rimington Trophy Watch List.
Throughout his career, Petitbon was a cornerstone of Wake Forest’s offensive line. In 2023, he started 11 games and finished with the fourth-highest center grade in the ACC. His leadership helped the Demon Deacons claim an ACC Atlantic Division Championship and a Gator Bowl victory in 2021. Petitbon’s grit was evident from his freshman year, as he made an immediate impact, playing in 11 games and contributing to major wins.
A 3-star recruit out of Gonzaga College in Washington, D.C., Petitbon was an Under Armour All-American and earned first-team All-Met honors. His family has a rich football legacy, with an older brother, Richie, who played at Alabama and Illinois, and a younger brother, Carson, a defensive back at Maryland. Even his father and grandfather had successful football careers, with his grandfather, Richie Petitbon, playing 14 seasons in the NFL and winning three Super Bowls as a defensive coordinator with the Washington Redskins.
Petitbon’s impressive football IQ, hard-nosed play, and championship pedigree make him a perfect fit for Florida State’s dynamic program, as Norvell looks to build on last season’s success. Fans and teammates alike can expect nothing less than relentless effort from Petitbon in the years to come.
