However, there’s a fresh sense of optimism on the horizon. With new coaching additions like Gus Malzahn, Herb Hand, and Tim Harris Jr., Florida State is assembling the perfect storm to turn things around. A new quarterback, Thomas Castellanos, is set to lead the charge, with star playmaker Duce Robinson joining the team and a revamped offensive line bringing in much-needed experience.
The biggest area of focus for the Seminoles is the running game. Malzahn, known for his run-heavy offense, helped UCF’s RJ Harvey rack up over 1,500 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2024, proving the system can elevate a star running back. Florida State is now looking to establish a true bell cow for 2025. While senior Roydell Williams’ return remains uncertain, the Seminoles are facing potential losses with talented players like Lawrance Toafili and Caziah Holmes departing.
There’s optimism with young talent like true freshman Kameron Davis, though he had a quiet year in terms of breaking tackles. The speedster Jaylin Lucas, who was sidelined by an injury in 2024, is set for a comeback in 2025. Florida State also secured four-star recruit Ousmane Kromah, a dynamic playmaker who flipped from Georgia and is expected to make an immediate impact.
But with 2025 being a crucial year, the Seminoles can’t afford to wait for a freshman to develop. Enter Rahsul Faison, a senior transfer from Utah State. The experienced back had an impressive 2024 campaign, rushing for 1,109 yards and eight touchdowns. Faison has proven he can handle tough competition, with standout performances against USC, Utah, and Boise State, making him a prime candidate to bolster Florida State’s backfield.
While Kromah has all the potential to be the RB1, adding Faison to the mix could be the key to unlocking Florida State’s offensive power. With a healthy rotation of playmakers like Davis, Kromah, and Faison, the Seminoles could be poised for an explosive 2025 season.
