Auburn football’s wide receiver room just got a huge boost with the addition of Eric Singleton Jr., stepping in to fill the void left by KeAndre Lambert-Smith. However, while Singleton brings potential, Rivals’ Brian Stultz doesn’t expect him to replicate Lambert-Smith’s explosive performances.
“Eric Singleton’s arrival is huge for the WR group, but will he be as productive as KeAndre Lambert-Smith? Probably not. Still, he adds a dynamic threat to complement Cam Coleman and Malcolm Simmons,” Stultz commented.
Lambert-Smith was a standout in 2024, racking up four 100+ yard games, including a 156-yard performance against Arkansas and 95 yards against Georgia. His impact was undeniable, especially in high-stakes matchups like Texas A&M and Alabama, where he truly delivered. Beyond big games, Lambert-Smith’s stats dwarfed those of Auburn’s No. 2 receiver, with 10 more catches and 383 more yards.
As Auburn’s receiving corps continues to develop, Coleman and Simmons show plenty of promise, possibly stepping up to take on WR1 roles next year. Meanwhile, Perry Thompson and Bryce Cain could be primed to contribute after redshirt seasons, adding depth and talent to the room.
While Singleton won’t be tasked with the same heavy lifting as Lambert-Smith, he’s still poised to make an impact. If he clicks with quarterback Jackson Arnold, there’s potential for some surprise fireworks. Regardless, the loss of Lambert-Smith is significant, but Singleton’s arrival gives Auburn something exciting to look forward to as they rebuild their WR strength.
