In an electrifying showdown, No. 20 Kentucky snapped a seven-game losing streak to rival Louisville, pulling off a dramatic 71-61 overtime victory.

The Cardinals, who had been in control for most of the game, faltered when it mattered most. Louisville hit only three of its last 18 shots and went scoreless in overtime, plagued by costly turnovers. Kentucky’s defense, already known for its shot-blocking prowess, dominated in the paint, swatting away nine shots and shutting down Louisville’s offensive flow.
Georgia Amore, the standout All-American transfer from Virginia Tech, led Kentucky with 19 points and nine assists. Teonni Key added 17 points, Dazka Lawrence chipped in 12, and Clara Strack scored 10, with all of Kentucky’s scoring coming from their starting five.
For Louisville, freshman Imari Berry dazzled with a career-high 14 points, all in the second half, including three consecutive three-pointers that gave the Cardinals a 46-39 lead late in the third quarter. However, the team struggled to maintain their hot shooting, and despite 12 points from Tajianna Roberts, no other player could reach double digits.
Kentucky’s grit and resilience shone through in overtime, as they closed out the game with a statement win. With this thrilling victory, the Wildcats not only ended their rivalry slump but also showed they’re ready to take on anything in the season ahead.
